Planning a Jewellery Suite or Parure

In the Algems archive, a suite or parure describes a coordinated ensemble. Many entries pair a necklace with earrings; another pairs a bracelet with earrings. Read the components listed for the specific work rather than assuming that either name always means a fixed set.

Choose the pieces around how you will wear them

A commission brief can start with the pieces you expect to wear together, the pieces you want to wear individually and the occasions you have in mind. That tells the atelier more than simply asking for a matching set.

The Celestial Aquarelle Suite records a bracelet and earrings. The Emerald Dynasty pairs a necklace with drop earrings. These are different ways to create a coordinated ensemble, each with its own relationship between the body and the individual pieces.

Look for a shared design language

In the Emerald Dynasty, emerald shapes and diamond leaf motifs recur in the necklace and earrings. In the Eternal Blossom, floral arrangements and the green, pink and white palette link the pieces. The relationship can come from colour, shape, motif or a combination of all three.
