The Spider Case

A spider rendered in white gold and diamonds, designed to lift off the phone and be worn as a pendant. Together with the Dragon, it defined the Algems jewelled-case series. The arachnid sits proud against a dark case back, its body faceted with brilliant-cut diamonds that catch the light at every angle, while articulated legs extend outward with a delicate, almost lifelike tension. Each element is hand-finished: the legs tapered to fine white gold points, the abdomen domed and pavé-set so that no metal interrupts the field of stone. A hidden clasp allows the spider to detach cleanly from its case, transforming it into a pendant suspended from a chain. The dual life of the piece, phone jewel by day and personal ornament by evening, captures something essential about the way Algems approaches craft: nothing is merely decorative, and nothing is purely functional.
