The Imperial Horse Decanter
A hand-cut crystal decanter crowned by a sculpted horse head, diamond pavé with a sapphire mane, clasping a large blue cabochon.
A spirited horse head in pavé diamonds, its mane flowing in blue and violet sapphires, rears over a large blue cabochon atop a sculpted crystal vessel. The creature's nostrils flare with life, each facet of its muscular neck catching light through hundreds of precisely set stones. It is a companion to the signature Dragon decanter in the Eclectic Decanter collection, sharing the same reverence for narrative sculpture rendered at the highest level of the gem-setter's craft.
The body beneath is hand-cut crystal, its surface worked into deep vertical facets that refract and multiply the surrounding light. A gilded collar unites the two halves, stone and glass, sculpture and vessel, grounding the horse's exuberance in quiet architectural proportion. The blue cabochon held between the horse's forelegs glows with a still, almost aquatic depth, anchoring the composition with a single focal note of saturated colour.
To live with the piece is to keep a small act of theatre on the table. In candlelight the sapphire mane darkens to indigo while the pavé diamonds lift into white fire, and the crystal body below becomes a column of refracted warmth. It is functional, certainly, yet it exists first as sculpture: a celebration of movement, material and the patient hand.
