The Harlequin Pendant

A vertical chain of diamond circles holds a scatter of coloured ovals, pink, gold, green and red, suspended from a fine silk cord. Each ring is micro-set with brilliant-cut diamonds whose white fire frames the deeper colours within, while the oval gemstones shift gently with the wearer's movement, catching light at unpredictable angles. Spinel, garnet, tsavorite and citrine were chosen for their saturation and their ability to hold colour in both daylight and candlelight. The stones sit loosely in their diamond frames, a deliberate lightness that gives the pendant the quality of a mobile rather than a static jewel.
